Beautify Screenshots Online — Free, No Download

Paste a screenshot. Pick a gradient. Round the corners. Add a shadow. Export. Five steps, under 30 seconds, entirely in your browser. No app to install, no account to create.

1

Paste your screenshot

Open app.screenshotedits.com in any browser. Press Cmd+V (Mac) or Ctrl+V (Windows). That's it. Your screenshot shows up on the canvas. You can also drag a file in or use the file picker, but paste is fastest — screenshot to editor in under 2 seconds.

Pro tip: Take a screenshot with your OS shortcut first. On Mac: Cmd+Shift+4. On Windows: Win+Shift+S. Then switch to the app and paste.

2

Pick a gradient background

The sidebar shows gradient presets. Free tier has 5. Pro unlocks all 30+ across 10 categories: purple, blue, green, orange, pink, dark, light, multicolor, solid, and transparent. Click any preset and the background updates live. No need to save — just browse until you find one that works.

Pro tip: Dark gradients work best for code screenshots. Light ones for product UI. Purple and blue are safe defaults for almost anything.

3

Adjust corners

The corner radius slider rounds the edges of your screenshot inside the gradient frame. At 0 you get sharp corners. At 12-16px you get that clean, modern macOS look. Go higher for a softer feel. The preview updates as you drag.

Pro tip: Most polished screenshots use 12px radius. It matches the rounded-corner style that macOS and iOS apps have trained everyone's eyes to expect.

4

Add a shadow

Toggle the shadow on, then adjust depth and blur. A light shadow (20-30% depth) adds just enough depth to separate the screenshot from the background. Go heavier if you want a dramatic floating effect. The shadow color is auto-derived from your gradient, so it always looks natural.

Pro tip: If you're exporting for a white webpage, increase shadow depth. The screenshot needs more separation against a light background than a dark one.

5

Export

Click the Export button or hit Cmd/Ctrl+S. Choose PNG for maximum quality (best for text-heavy screenshots) or JPEG for smaller file sizes. You can also copy straight to clipboard — paste into Slack, Notion, email, or Google Docs without saving a file.

Pro tip: Use clipboard copy (Cmd/Ctrl+C) for quick sharing. Use file export when you need a specific resolution or file format.

Online vs desktop app — when to use which

Both do the same beautification. The difference is convenience versus power.

Use the web app when...

  • You're on a borrowed computer or Chromebook
  • You just need to beautify 1-2 screenshots quickly
  • You don't want to install anything
  • You're on Windows or Linux (desktop app is Mac-only for now)

Use the desktop app when...

  • You beautify screenshots every day (faster workflow)
  • You want built-in screen capture with hotkeys
  • You need OCR / text extraction from screenshots
  • You want zero network activity (100% offline)

Plain vs beautified — the difference

Same screenshot. Same content. Wildly different first impression.

A Jira bug report

Before

Raw screenshot of an error modal on a white browser window. No context, no polish. Looks like it was taken in a rush (it was).

After

Same screenshot on a dark blue gradient with rounded corners and a soft shadow. Instantly looks intentional. The PM reading the ticket actually stops to look at it.

A blog tutorial

Before

Flat screenshot of a settings panel. Hard to distinguish from the surrounding page. Readers scroll past it.

After

Purple gradient background, 16px corners, medium shadow. The screenshot pops off the page. Readers pause because it looks like a figure, not a throwaway image.

A tweet showing your app

Before

Screenshot dropped into a tweet. White background blends into Twitter's white UI. Nobody clicks expand.

After

Vibrant gradient frame. The tweet stands out in the feed. People actually see the product you're showing.

What does it cost?

The web app is free. No tricks. You get 5 gradient presets, full beautification controls, and 3 exports per day. That's enough for most people.
